Writing Workshop and Reading with Frank Bures
Written surveys will be distributed to all attendees at the writing workshop. It is expected that a majority of
respondents will:
• learn something about essay writing.
• be inspired to continue their writing.
• be interested in checking out library materials on writing.
• indicate they will share a positive review of this program with others.
In addition, library staff will observe a majority of attendees actively engaged in the workshop by listening attentively and asking questions. Anecdotal responses from attendees will confirm their enjoyment of the program
. This program was very well received by the vast majority of survey respondents, who positively indicated that Frank Bures taught them something about essay writing and inspired them to continue writing. Several of the audience members indicated they look forward to reading his book when
it comes out in April.
One hundred percent of respondents indicated they would share a positive review of the program with others.
Anecdotal responses included: “Tons of information covered which was most beneficial.” “Will incorporate
some of what I’ve learned into what I’m writing,” and “Great afternoon and evening – inspiring to want to
write more.”
This librarian observed audience members quietly listening or writing and then enthusiastically talking about the writing techniques they just used and asking questions about how Bures chooses his topics and what he is
thinking about writing for the future.
