Written surveys were distributed to all attendees at the presentation. It was expected that a majority of respondents would learn something about Peter Mansoor’s experiences in Iraq, learn something about U.S. military history in Iraq, learn something about Peter Mansoor’s writing process and express interest in checking out Peter Mansoor’s books and/or military history materials. In addition, library staff would observe a majority of attendees actively engaged in the program by listening attentively and asking questions. Anecdotal responses from attendees would confirm their enjoyment of the program.
All respondents indicated they learned something about Peter Mansoor’s experiences in Iraq and learned something about U.S. military history in Iraq. The vast majority of respondents indicated they learned something about Peter Mansoor’s writing process and expressed an interest in checking out Peter Mansoor’s books and/or military history materials from the library. All respondents indicated they would share a positive review of the program with others. Librarian observed program attendees quietly listening to Dr. Mansoor’s presentation. After the formal presentation, many raised their hands to ask questions, and the discussion lasted nearly 20 minutes. Attendees remained after the program to talk with Dr. Mansoor and have books signed. Librarian also observed attendees talking with one another about the program. There was a comment from an attendee, who was disappointed that books were not available for purchase. Originally, Dr. Mansoor indicated he would bring books to sell; however, that didn’t work out. Anecdotal responses included: "To have someone like Dr. Mansoor in my home town is sure a treat!” “An ongoing situation in Iraq makes this information helpful in understanding what is going on now.”
