Fairy Gardening
Participants will learn how to straw bale garden, learn vertical gardening techniques and enjoy direct access to expert gardener.
Kids created their own fairy garden using nature elements, fairy garden miniatures, and a container. This program was held as part of Waseca Public Library’s Gardening Week as well as an Early Out event. The other session was held as part of Janesville Public Library’s Gardening Month. At Waseca, the kids also created a Library fairy garden which was placed in the library lobby throughout the summer. Each week, something new changed in the fairy garden and kids were encouraged to write a story about what they thought happened in the fairy garden. Weekly book prizes were awarded to the winner of that week’s story. This feature was quite popular on Facebook, often yielding the most likes to our posts for the week. Next spring, Janesville Public Library will use these same fairy garden elements to create a changing fairy garden.
