Author Talk: P.S. Duffy
It is expected the majority of respondents will learn something about P.S. Duffy, learn something about the author's writing process, learn something about the setting, plot and characters in "The Cartographer of No Man's Land" and share a positive review of the program with others.
The vast majority of survey respondents indicated they learned about P.S. Duffy's writing process and about the making of "The Cartographer of No Man's Land." Throughout the program, Ms. Duffy shared insight into her very personal writing experiences and interjected a dose of self-deprecating humor. Audience members asked questions, and several stayed after the program to talk with the author. A majority of the audience had read "Cartographer," so there seemed to be a great connection with the author and her presentation. Anecdotal responses from attendees included: "Good tie-in with adult book group." "Fun to learn about influences. Very interesting to hear about her process." The library has enjoyed great success when pairing an author visit with one of the regularly scheduled book discussions. There is a built-in audience, and most times members from at least one other local book group attend. Because we choose Minnesota authors for these events, there often are enough copies of the book throughout the state to accommodate all readers. For this event, the library purchased copies of "Cartographer"
and created a book club bag.
