A Kids Music Extravaganza with Gallimaufry
Written evaluations were given to all adult attendees. It was expected that a majority of respondents would learn at least one new children’s song, be interested in checking out music CDs from the library and express interest in attending another family program at the library. Library staff will observe a majority of attendees actively engaging in the program by singing, clapping, and/or dancing. Anecdotal responses from attendees will confirm enjoyment of the program.
Written surveys were given to all adults attending the program. The surveys reflect that the majority of those attending the concert were newcomers to Gallimaufry’s music. Nearly all of those who completed the survey also stated they enjoyed the family concert and learned at least one new song. About half of the concertgoers expressed interest in checking out music CDs from the library’s collection. It was rewarding to see that all of those who completed the survey stated they would be interested in attending a future family program at the library and would also recommend the library’s programs to family and friends. From librarian’s perspective, the Gallimaufry family program was a wonderful success! Children and adults greatly enjoyed the evening’s music. Both Ron and Dave did a great job making the concert interactive, educational, and fun. I received many “thank you” comments at the end of the program for hosting this concert at the library. It’s definitely a program I would recommend to other libraries. From the comments included on the surveys, it is clear that patrons of all ages enjoyed the program. Here are a few of the comments: “Wow! Would come back anytime.” “The kids loved it too!”
