Writers in the Library - Spring 2015
Patrons will explore the meaning of community by sharing life experiences. Patrons will create a song inspired by stories that have themes about overcoming difficulties. Patrons will have the opportunity to share their musical creation through a public performance. Patrons will engage in an enjoyable musical activity.
At this program, Somali youth collaborated with Larry Long and other community members to write a song about their hopes and dreams that they performed at a public performance. At the performance, 93% experienced folk music. 100% experienced different cultures. 86% learned about community. 23% planned to check out library materials about this topic. 100% rated the quality of the program as good or better.
