Page and Stage 2014-2015
Participants will read the script for the play being performed and have a chance to attend the Lyric Arts performance. They will participate in discussions before and after the play which will lead to a better understanding of theatrical arts including acting, set design, lighting and stage direction. They will have a deeper understanding of the process of bringing the script to the stage. Attendance by those new to theater will be encouraged.
Attendees read the script for each of five plays and discussed the writing and theatrical interpretation with a skilled educator from Lyric Arts before the performance. After attending the performance attendees further discussed the play and interpretation they had just seen with the full cast, directors and technicians. Through observation of audience participation it was clear attendees were learning phrases and concepts used in the theatrical arts that were new to them. Participants engaged with the discussion at a deep level and commented on their appreciation of the in depth conversations and knowledge gained. Several participants at each performance commented that this was their first experience with Lyric Arts or with theater.
