Project Overview
The streams formerly contained self-reproducing populations of Brook Trout (Salvelinus fontinalis). The project objective is to increase self-sustaining populations of Brook Trout within the connected watersheds. This will be accomplished by the following methods: 1: Improving stream trout habitat by reducing beaver populations and their consequent dams. 2: Reducing primary food source (Aspen) by forestry practices including aspen removal and conifer planting in selected areas. 3: Restoring slumped stream-bank, thereby reducing turbidity and allowing for riparian vegetative establishment. 4: Restoring channels and or channel features if needed. The projects seeks a long term habitat restoration minimizing future maintenance.
