KUMD - Live From Studio A
KUMD will invite local, regional and state musical artists to showcase their work live on KUMD. KUMD will interview these artists live, and set up the studio to allow for a live session in the on air studio. In addition, KUMD will record the interview and edit it for archival use on the KUMD web site, as well as the AMPERS website, which will also give all Ampers stations the opportunity to air the program giving the artist even more exposure. We anticipate between 65-75 shows for FY 2013.
Arts, culture and history will be interwoven into every facet of community life. Nothing is as omnipresent to our everyday life as music. We relive our past with music from that time, and make new memories with music from today. The live interviews offer unique information about the artist, including their background, the source of their inspiration and more. “Live From Studio-A” is a memory- making program for both our audience and for the artists.More Minnesotans of all ages, ethnicities, abilities and incomes will participate in the arts, culture and history. “Live From Studio-A offers both established and new artists, young and old, of any ethnicity, the opportunity to connect with the KUMD audience. This program is open to all Minnesota artists, with the only caveat being that their work has artistic value to be appreciated by all.People will trust Minnesota’s stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding. KUMD has and will continue to partner with a free-lance videographer to tape certain sessions of “Live From Studio-A”. This adds a new dimension of this artistic experience for our audience, but no additional costs to KUMD, as he offers this service free of charge.Arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota. Though quite talented, the majority of these performers need exposure to the masses to gain recognition and acceptance. Most are performing in small venues, and getting air time on KUMD greatly enhances the prospect of a well attended performance. Artists, listeners, and area venues benefit from this exposure.More locally and Minnesota focused content. KUMD will air the interviews and live music of approximately 60 Minnesota artists on the KUMD airwaves, many are from the Northland, but we also promote artists who are performing at local venues from all of Minnesota.More local artists, historians, writers and others will have their work showcased through public broadcasting. The union of live music and an interview creates a wonderful experience for both the listener and the artist. And, because all “Live From Studio-A” programs are recorded live, and archived on both the KUMD and the AMPERS website; artists are able to use those recordings as a valuable marketing tool for their work. Support for this program allows KUMD to showcase such a wide variety of Minnesota musicians who may otherwise have limited access to a mass audience.
