Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers
The Native Pride Dancers and Mr. Yazzie presented three educational workshops at the Chisago Lakes High School and an educational workshop at the Chisago Lakes Area Library with one male and female dancer. These workshops were followed with an evening performance at the Chisago Lakes High School Performing Arts Center with a troupe of four dancers which included storytelling, flute, dancing and interaction with the audience. These events took place on March 4, 2013.

Attendees will learn about Native American cultural traditions through music, dance and storytelling thus nurturing communication among all people. The program will enhance their access to diverse and multicultural artists.
100% of those in attendance at the workshops enjoyed the workshops. Comments included: I learned about some of the tribes having kids who could be sent to boot camp and trained to learn English and act like English people; They hop around to the beat of the music Not all stereotypes are true man; I learned that the Indigenous traditions are very different from what I thought they were. Many people have many misconceptions about the whole Indian/tribe deal. 96% of those in attendance in the evening performance enjoyed the performance immensely. Comments from the evening performance included: Enjoyed hearing the bit of history that you shared with us I thought I was coming to the high school band concert, This was a wonderful surprise!; Very informative as well as entertaining.
