County Fair Legacy Project
The "old school house" on the fairgrounds provides a look back at how things were once in Clay County. This building houses a large number of historical items from school houses in Clay County. The "old school house" is open to visitors of the Clay County Fair for educating all generations to the culture and heritage of Clay County. Typically, the Clay County Historical Society assists the fair board in providing education through visits to the schoolhouse, spelling bees and geography bees during the fair. , , This building has gone many years without any improvements to the roof and exterior. There have been a few storms that went through the fairgrounds that has decreased the quality of the roof. The roof will be replaced (shingled) and the exterior will be painted, which will improve the longevity of the school house.
We expect 150-200 people will attend the "Old School House" during the Clay County Fair. We will attempt to have a guest book in the school house during the fair.
