Project Overview
Acquire 40 acres that includes the headwaters of a former named lake (Mud Lake). This acquisition would offer the opportunity to immediately restore 12 acres of the basin and gain a foothold for continuing future restoration of the Mud Lake bed. The property also has CRP grassland that will provide nesting cover for waterfowl and other wildlife. Adjacent to the Mud Lake basin is another former named lake (Clear Lake) so there is high potential for expansion and long-term restoration of these former lakes. In time, an excellent wetland/grassland complex could be developed that would benefit not only waterfowl and wildlife but also provide water quality benefits.
