The target audience for this project is the majority culture. Interviews will be conducted of a number of individuals from Minnesota’s American Indian community. These interviews will then be edited, compiled, and used in the larger Absent Narratives Project. The video will be used in small segments of web content as part of the project to educate the mainstream public. Longer video segments will be made available to teachers to provide authentic voices in their classroom instruction. Both audiences are important for long-term measurable impact.

The Minnesota Humanities Center and the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council are partnering on a media project which collects and utilizes various video interviews of tribal members in Minnesota speaking about their lived experiences. Project goals include providing Minnesota’s K-12 teachers with authentic voices for use in their classrooms and increasing the understanding of the dominant culture about the significant contributions of the American Indian community to the state of Minnesota.
